Check out these incredible works by English artist Simon Beck.
KATE WERTHEIMER – December 18, 2019 | Updated December 15, 2020
Simon Beck‘s art is inspired by the natural wonder and intricate nature of snowflakes; he travels the world carving large-scale artworks (around 300 pieces to date) into snow-covered landscapes using only his manpower and a pair of snowshoes. Many of his ideas come from patterns found in nature (snowflakes, spiraled cactus spears, cannabis leaves); crop circles; mathematical equations; and even iconic artists such as Vincent Van Gogh. Take a tour of some of Beck’s best works right here.

Lake Dillon, Silverthorne, CO
Beck couldn’t complete this piece on the banks of Lake Dillon due to strong wind conditions, but we think the partial work still adds drama to an already striking landscape.

Maryland Creek, Silverthorne, CO
What’s not to love about this intricately patterned piece? Visitors can park at Maryland Creek Park and view the mural from the perimeter of the field or from the top of the sledding hill.

North Pond Park, Silverthorne, CO
Beck carved a massive snowflake into the powder in this Silverthorne park. Visitors can view the snow mural from the elevated banks and trails along the pond.

“I use snowshoes made by TSL,” says Beck, “because they attach to the heel and you can do tight turns and walk backwards.”
